HAMPTON ROADS
JROTC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

Purpose: To recognize outstanding high school seniors who desire to serve as officers in the US Armed Forces.

Scholarship Awards: The chapter will present at least four $1000 scholarships.

Scholarship Criteria:
    • Applicant must be a JROTC Cadet at the time of application.
    • Applicant must complete a ROCKS, Inc. Scholarship Application Form.
    • Applicant must submit a copy of their SAT or ACT test scores.
    • Applicant must submit an official copy of their high school transcript.
    • Applicant must submit two letters of recommendation (one from a principal, counselor, or teacher and         one  from a community or civic leader).
    • Applicant must write an essay on "Why I want to serve as an officer in the US Armed Forces." Essay must not exceed one page (typed and double-spaced).

Instructions:
   • Type or print on the ROCKS, Inc. application form.
   • Type the essay (not to exceed one page and double-spaced).
   • Attach essay, copy of SAT or ACT scores, and letters of recommendations to the scholarship application form.
   • Mail the completed application packet to Scholarship Committee, Hampton Roads Chapter of ROCKS, Inc., 5429 Todd Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23464
   • ATTN: Scholarship Committee, Fort Eustis, VA 23604
   • Materials may be converted to a PDF file and emailed to wendell.turner@jfcom.mil or scholarship@hrcrocksinc.org

Deadline: Application must be postmarked or emailed by 3 March 2009.

Notification: Scholarship winners will be notified by mail and email through the JROTC Senior Instructors office.

Ceremony: The scholarship winners will be recognized at the Chapters Gala Celebration.
