General Edward Honor
United States
Army, Retired a veteran of the Vietnam War,
passed
away on 3 September 2008 in Washington, DC. General Honor
retired in 1989 after over 35 years of distinguished service to
the Nation as a Transportation Corps Officer. He was 75 years
old at the time of his death. He commanded at all levels during
his career which culminated in an assignment as the Director,
J-4, the Joint Staff, Washington, DC. After retirement, General
Honor served as President of the National Defense Transportation
Association for 13 Years. He retired from NDTA in 2002. General
Honor was a founding member of the ROCKS, Inc. and was
instrumental in establishing the National Board. He was also a
life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. General Honor is
survived by his wife, Phyllis; his son, Edward Honor Jr.;
daughter Beverly Short and her husband James V. Short;
grandchildren: James V. Short II, Jennell Short and Jennifer
Short; sisters: Willie Mae Gardiner and Dorothy Gabriel and her
husband Harry; and a host of relatives and friends. The funeral
service and burial with Full Military Honors will be on Monday,
December 1, 2008, 1:00 p.m. at the Fort Myer Main Post Chapel.

The Passing of COL
William Eaton USA (Ret)
COL William H. “Bill” Eaton USA (Ret), the
2nd African-American
Post Commander for Fort McNair, died on Sunday, January 11,
2009. The viewing will take place on Tuesday, March
24, 2009 from 6pm to 9pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home,
PA, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD. Funeral
services will be held at The Old Post Chapel, Fort Myer, VA on
Wednesday, March 25 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers,
contributions may be made in memory of COL William “Bill” Eaton
to South Carolina State University, General Scholarship Account,
P.O. Box 7187, Orangeburg, SC 29117...obituary
